Instrument of nature: Etta James (25 January 1938 – 20 January 2012)

Something strange happened to me earlier...

After publishing Flo Rida's song "Good Feeling",

I returned on youtube to listen Etta James's "Something's got a hold on me".

Flo Rida's "Good feeling" has samples from this one... Anyway, I was singing and dancing and happy, then I recived an e-mail...

14 years old. A young girl, inspired by the doo-wop style, formed a girl band wich captured Johnny Otis's attention who gave birth of Etta James.

Another instrument of nature has left the Earth. "At last", she may rest in peace, she found "Peace of my heart".

She has won 6 Grammy awards of which one is the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2003) and 7 Blues Music Awards. She ranks number 22 in top 100 Greatest Singers and 62 in the top100 Greatest Artists.

She was considered "link" between rhythm and blues and rock and roll.

We all know that she's not gone. Listening the music of Beyonce, Hayley Williams, Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone or Adele, we will always find her.

Introducing Dionne Bromfield

Ma plimbam pe blog-ul Ralucai, vad un titlu "Foolish Little Girl"... si logic, pressed play sa ascult versurile... dar versurile nu au mai contat. Vocea persoanei care interpreta aceasta piesa, m-a facut sa uit de ele. Pur si simplu nu au mai contat ca in majoritatea cazurilor cand vine vorba de muzica (in ceea ce ma priveste). Constat apoi (dupa descrierea facuta de Raluca), ca este vorba despre o copila de numai 14 ani. WTF... cu asa voce, la doar 14 ani?!?!? si acum sunt "bulversata" de acest "instrument (minunat) al naturii" .
Numele ei este Dionne Bromfield, un varsator de numai 14 ani, nascuta in Londra si iubitoare a soul-ului de epoca. Nasa ei fiind nimeni alta decat Amy Winehouse.
Iubire, pe care o demonstreaza in albumul de debut "Introducing Dionne Bromfield", lansat pe 12 Octombrie '09. In el vom gasi 12 cover-uri ale unor melodii clasice, cum ar fi "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (imn-ul Motown), "Foolish Little Girl" (piesa interpretata in anii '60 de catre o trupa de fete numita The Shirelles)... etc
Au fost deja lansate 4 piese din 12. Pe langa cele 2 spuse mai sus, pe "piata muzicala" se plimba atat "Mama Said" cat si "I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus". "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" este un feat cu Zalon, o voce importanta a back vocal-ului al donsoarei Amy Winehouse.
Astea au fost cele spune, va "poftesc la un auz" atat live cat si inregistrare, pentru a vedea/auzi ca intr-adevar este un "instrument al naturii"

Acum 25 de ani, Michael Jackson impreuna cu Lionel Richie au scris piesa de caritate numita "We are The World", piesa pe care au cantat-o alaturi de alti 45 de artisti internationali. Impreuna au format asociatia "USA for Africa" (cunoscuta si sub numele de United Support of Artist for Africa).
Astazi, piesa "has reborn"... de aceasta data, este "indreptata" catre Haiti.
Piesa "a suferit" doar mici schimbari... Will.I.Am a adaugat cateva versuri. In productie, alaturi de Quincy Jones se afla Wyclef Jones si RedOne, iar in spatele piesei se afla 79 de oameni.
Michael and Janet Jackson , Akon, T-Pain, Will.I.Am, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celin Dion, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, LL Cool J, Enrique Iglesias, Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blige, Barbare Streisand, P!nk, Fergie, Nick Jones, Toni Braxton, Lil Wayne, Carlos Santana, Justin Bieber, Nicole Scherzinger... etc, ei sunt parte de solo a piesei, iar corul este format din Keri Hilson, Jordin Sparks, 3T, Sean Garrett, Mýa, Trey Songz, Faith Evans, India.Arie... etc.

Oldie but goldie...

It's a shame when the cover sounds much better than the original, but to be onest, I'm glad that he made this cover... my ears are happy.
Oh God, a glass of wine + poetry + music + Maxwell's voice = 4 min and 15 sec of... hmmm, whatever you want! Put the song on repeat, and you'll "reach the infinity", ish
For some of you/us the lyrics of this song are ordinary, but the way he sings... Gooosh! goosebumps!

F.Y.I: the song was written, performed and produced by Kate Bush and was released in November '89 as her second single from her album "The sensual world".
Maxwell made the cover for the "MTV Unplugged" album in '97 and in '01 he re-recorded it for the "Now" album.

Mi-a placut in trecut, unul indepartat, o piesa numita "I Am Not My Hair" (oare de ce?!).
Saptamana trecuta am ascultat o melodie draguta. M-am interesat cine ce si cum... am aflat... era India.Arie, cu piesa "Can I walk With You"... descopar ca "inculpata" este una si aceeasi cu "piesa parului"... M-am pus sa caut "deeper" despre ea...
La inceputul acestiu an, a lansat albumul "Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics".
Mie personal, stilul muzical "neo-soul" nu prea imi place... ascult o piesa, doua... trei, de acest gen, dar, dudes `n dudets, acest album... il iubesc... piesa cu piesa, vers cu vers (asta probabil pentru ca nu toate piesele sunt pe stilul neo-soul...). Imi place atat de mult incat nu vreau sa scriu cine a compus piesele, care a fost primul extras single, cine este India.Arie etc... dunno if someone will understand me or not, I don`t give a efiucikei...
Da un search, poate o sa iti placa... mai jos vei gasi doar 2 piese de pe acest album, si cele doua mentionate mai sus...

Funny but sweet, kinda... M-am trezit de dimineata fredonand piesa "Nasty Naughty Boy" cantata de Christina Aguilera, desi nu am visat nimic Oare ce s-o afla in ma subconscious... What a pity ca piesa nu a fost promovata... Piesa se afla pe albumul "Back To Basics" al "duhulitzei Cri-Cri" (Christina Aguilera), scrisa de ea si Linda Perry, produsa de Perry.

Prima "plecaciune in ceea ce priveste muzica" a fost facuta de Madonna in 1994 pentru cel de al saselea ei album, "Bedtime Stories", iar nenea Babyface este cel care a improvizat backing vocal`u.

In 2006 au urmat cei de la Muse pentru albumul "Black Holes and Revelations"... dar fara succes.

Din 2007, "plecaciunea" o ia razna...
Leona Lewis, "urla" in piesa cu numarul 6 de pe albumul "Spirit", ca "[...] so baby before I put you out, take a bow[...]" Pretty dreamy girl, nu?... ma rog... Ea a fost "incurajata" de Louis John Biancaniello, Sam Watters si Wayne Wilkins (ei au compus piesa)...

In vara lui 2008 "aplecarea corpului" ne "loveste" cu "Good Girl, Gone Bad", si nu oarecum, ci "Reloaded", a lui don`shoara Rihanna...
Desi povestea este asemanatoare cu cea a lui Leona, "lacrimile" sunt mult mai diferite. Cele ale Rihannei nu sunt chiar atat de "girlish", au ceva atititudine, si asta multumita lui Ne-Yo (el fu` shakespear-ul piesei)
